Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well and allow it to marinate for about 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by whisking together the oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, and water in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef in batches and stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until lightly browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the wok. Stir-fry the onion and bell peppers for 2–3 minutes, keeping them slightly crisp.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the wok and toss everything together.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and stir continuously as it simmers and thickens, coating the beef and vegetables evenly.
- Continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot alongside steamed rice or your favorite noodles.
