Easy Homemade Beef Meatballs

These juicy homemade beef meatballs are simple to prepare and packed with classic Italian-inspired flavors. Made with ground beef, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and herbs, they’re tender on the inside with a beautifully browned exterior. Pair them with your favorite pasta, tuck them into a sandwich, or serve alongside mashed potatoes for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for pan-browning)
  • Marinara sauce, optional for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing the surface.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the breadcrumbs and milk. Allow the mixture to rest for about 2 minutes so the breadcrumbs can absorb the liquid.
  3. Add the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
  4. Mix everything gently until the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overwork the meat, as this helps keep the meatballs soft and juicy.
  5. Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1½ inches in diameter and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. If desired, transfer the cooked meatballs to a pan of warmed marinara sauce and let them simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to absorb even more flavor.
  8. Finish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Serve with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or in a toasted sandwich roll.
