These juicy homemade beef meatballs are simple to prepare and packed with classic Italian-inspired flavors. Made with ground beef, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and herbs, they’re tender on the inside with a beautifully browned exterior. Pair them with your favorite pasta, tuck them into a sandwich, or serve alongside mashed potatoes for a comforting family meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for pan-browning)
- Marinara sauce, optional for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing the surface.
- In a large bowl, stir together the breadcrumbs and milk. Allow the mixture to rest for about 2 minutes so the breadcrumbs can absorb the liquid.
- Add the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
- Mix everything gently until the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overwork the meat, as this helps keep the meatballs soft and juicy.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1½ inches in diameter and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- If desired, transfer the cooked meatballs to a pan of warmed marinara sauce and let them simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to absorb even more flavor.
- Finish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Serve with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or in a toasted sandwich roll.
